VARIALLA:
Iâll Never Look at a Window the Same Way Again
ONE NIGHT. THAT was all Vladimir would give me in his home. I suspected he wouldnât have agreed to that if Revynath and Urdith hadnât crouched to peer in through the windows. The elf hadnât shown any sign of fear or surprise when heâd seen my dragons, but his asshole level had dropped a few notches and heâd conceded to one night.
It was all I needed. I should have been back at the palace already but I hadnât wanted to leave before Lucinda woke up. Then I hadnât wanted to go until I knew where Exekiel and the others would be staying. Now it was too late to return. Or maybe, I was just making excuses.
Today had been harder than expected. The last thing I wanted to do now was return to the palace; to the publicâs eye and scrutiny. Thereâd probably be some kind of penalty for evading Godric but if it meant I got to spend the evening with those I loved and exploring my new power, it would be worth it. First thing tomorrow, I would leave and return to the palace.
I ran my tongue over my freshly brushed teeth and exited the estateâs sleek black bathroom. It was the most modern thing Iâd seen in the Isles so far. There was no shower but it did have a clawfoot bathtub rather than one carved out of stone in the ground. Once I claimed the throne, I was going to install a shower in every room in that palace.
I padded barefoot down the corridor and made my way to the room Iâd be sharing with the girls; Lucinda, Cyrus, Colette and whoever else could fit. When I rounded the corner, I stopped. There was someone outside the door.
His pink irises gleamed amidst the inky black shadows that curled around the silvered edge of his wings. His dark hair was tussled like heâd just run his fingers through it. My own fingers itched to do the same.
âWhere have you been?â Exekiel murmured when I approached.
My heart flipped. His voice was low and dangerously alluring. My nipples puckered at the sound. Itâd been a few hours since Iâd last kissed him. It felt like a lifetime ago.
Moonlight shafted through the wall of windows. His shirt was unbuttoned and the pale glow spilled over the harsh contours of his sculpted abs. His black bottoms hung low on his hips in a way that highlighted the deep V-cut of his muscles. My eyes helplessly followed the path downwards to the prominent bulge in his pants. Even from a distance and half-bathed in shadow, it was huge. Exekiel was magnificent. Carved to make a girl lower her defenses and get on her back.
âI went to clean up.â My voice shook.
All my spiel of being the last dragonborn and heir to a million thrones yet one look at this Fae and I was powerless. One touch and I would be his to use in any way he wanted.
