Chapter Seven

Falcon laid a cool cloth over the forehead of the newly converted man. It had taken three days for his conversion to complete.

For now Garrett slept, his body relaxed, allowing Falcon to study the man. He thought about Garrett’s hazel eyes and how they were going to turn dark, almost black, nothing of the hazel remaining. He was going to miss that because those were what first caught Falcon’s attention at the Dirty Hole.

When he first laid eyes on the human, Garrett had been outside, arguing with Lonnie, his eyes heated and so damn intriguing that Falcon had sat forward and took notice. That was the first night he visited the Lower East Side. He and his men had lived in this area for a very long time, but had frequented other cities. It was a whim for them to head to Second Street in Paradise City, something pulling Falcon that way.

He remembered seeing the colorfully spiked hair, thickly applied eyeliner, and a fashion sense that only belonged to a true goth.

In Falcon’s opinion, the artist was handsome, masculine, and had called to something in Falcon that he still hadn’t figured out yet.

He brushed his fingers over the man’s tattoos. They were vivid, very detailed, and Falcon particularly liked the one with the quill and ink bottle. He wasn’t sure why, but he knew it had a meaning that Falcon was curious about.

As his fingers touched Garrett’s skin, the temptation to fuck the man had returned. It was hard not to be tempted with such a gorgeous, virile male lying in his bed. Falcon wanted the man to wake up so they could finish what they had started.

“How’s he doing?” Zane asked as he entered Falcon’s bedroom. Falcon pulled the sheet further up Garrett’s body, covering the man’s exposed hip before he turned.

“He reacted the same way as Emilio when he was converted.”

Zane crinkled his nose, but his dark eyes were filled with mirth. “That bad?”

Falcon shrugged. “He woke up screaming and fighting the conversion, but fell back to sleep, so the hardest part is over with.”

“Have you figured out how you converted him?” Zane’s eyes fell on Garrett, his expression pensive.

“No, but have you seen the news?” Falcon had been flipping through the channels a little while ago when he stopped on the local news, Garrett’s picture on the screen, the cops wanting any information to the man’s whereabouts for questioning in a murder case.

“We had to get out of there quick. I was hoping a neighbor wouldn’t call in the gunshots.”

Falcon pivoted toward his brother. “They always call in the sounds of gunshots. You two should have been more careful. We don’t need any unwanted attention. Garrett is one of us now. We can’t have him on the FBI’s most wanted list.”

“The Durango clan will steal the dead body from the morgue and this will fall under cold cases. Give it some time and he’ll be forgotten about.” Zane reached into his jacket and pulled out a rolled-up piece of paper.
