Ian

Aiden’s grip on my arm holds me in place as I watch Daniel storm off. I know Aiden’s confused right now, but I really don’t care what he thinks at the moment. I need to explain to Daniel and tell him how sorry I am. I never meant for him to find out this way. I was going to tell him tomorrow, and I know he’d probably still be pissed at me, but at least it wouldn’t have been this public.

“What the hell? Why would you pretend to be me? Do you have any idea how fucked up that is?” Aiden asks. I’m not sure what Daniel already told him. I don’t know what was said before I got to them. I didn’t even know Daniel was going to be here tonight. I pull out my phone to at least send him a message or try to call him, but once Aiden realizes what I’m doing, he takes my phone from me.

“Aiden, believe it or not, this isn’t about you. Stay out of it,” I tell him. Aiden crosses his arms and glares at me.

“Really? Because it certainly sounds like it’s about me. It sounds like you were lying to him about being me. Why would you tell him that? You do know it’s not okay to pretend to be me just so you can play out some bi-curious fantasy, don’t you?” Aiden yells.

“You two are making a scene,” Liam says as he joins us again, and sure enough, we’re starting to get an audience. A few of the people near the locker room have gotten closer to see what’s going on. “We should go back to the apartment,” he suggests.

“I need to go talk to Daniel,” I tell them instead.

“I’m with Aiden on that one. You need to let him process this. The last thing he needs right now is you trying to confront him,” Liam says. I don’t want to leave him with no explanation, but Liam might have a point. Clearly, Daniel doesn’t want to talk to me right now.

“Fine,” I say softly. “Let’s get out of here.” They walk with me toward the parking lot, and I can tell Aiden still wants to yell at me. Liam splits from us to drive back in his car, while Aiden follows me to my truck. Once we get in, Aiden grabs the keys out of my hand before I can start the engine.

“You need to start explaining what’s going on,” he tells me. I know he’s not going to wait for us to get back to the apartment.

“Daniel saw me and assumed I was you just before you were supposed to have a date a couple of months ago. I mentioned it at the time,” I say, but Aiden is looking at me, waiting for more. “I didn’t set out to lie to him. He asked me to meet up with him when I was in a rush, and I didn’t think it all through. Then he was kissing me and calling me Aiden.
