Chapter 4

Felix Rivera cowered in front of Dante as he spoke his menacing words. “So, there will be nowhere you can hide, nowhere I can’t get to you, Felix.”

Dante’s teeth were elongated into sharp points. Blood trickled from the man’s throat, where Dante’s claws were sunk into. The wounds would heal as long as Dante didn’t dig them in any further.

Felix looked wildly around for any sign of help that would not come. He and Dante were completely alone for at least the time being. The detective had seen to that, and Dante was grateful. He’d make sure to keep his end of the bargain as well.

“Please. I don’t know anything.”

“Don’t lie to me, you sniveling piece of shit.”

“They’ll kill me.”

Dante snarled. “Not as painfully as I will if you don’t tell me where she is.”

Felix’s eyes widened in terror at the expression he must have seen on Dante’s face. “W-warehouse… on C-conduit.”

Dante knew the one he was talking about. There’d been rumors that the Claw pack was trying to get their hooks into Brooklyn.

“What are they planning to do with her?”

Felix shook his head and released a whimper. “I don’t know. I swear. They just paid me to help get them inside the club. I only went there when I knew it was your night off.”

Slimy rat bastard! “How do you know that’s where they took her?”

“I overheard them talking about the warehouse earlier, how they stash things they stole there.”

Interesting, Dante thought. “If you’re lying to me or anything happens to her, I am going to peel the flesh off your bones.”

Dante’s nostrils flared as he inhaled the putrid stench of the man’s sudden incontinence.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” Dante spat in disgust. He shoved Felix hard away from him, causing the pathetic wolf to land on his ass on the floor. “More like a pussy than a wolf.” Still, he believed him and got what he needed.

It was nearing Four AM by the time Dante finally got to the warehouse. He’d had to endure hours of Felix’s god-awful odor, but that was the best the detective could do without raising too much suspicion. Thankfully, his grandfather was none the wiser. The detective also promised to see what he could do about wiping this arrest off his record. It would definitely not look good for the next SCNYC wolf representative to have an attempted carjacking on his record, not as if that’s what Dante was doing.

The detective had also done him another solid by retrieving Dante’s phone for him while he was in holding. He had knocked Felix out while making his preparations with his security team. He didn’t want any of them implicated in case anything went wrong. He had his buddy Jose working at the all-night parking lot in case shit hit the fan and he needed backup. A large green duffle bag waited for him in a secluded spot by the warehouse, filled with enough C4 to blow up the entire warehouse. God help them all if Daphne was dead.
