Chapter 3

The man slammed his fist against the table, obviously angry at the masked faces on the screen on his computer.

"We are wasting so much time. The more time we waste, the stronger these creatures will become. We can't let that happen."

One of the masked faces answered in a censorious voice.

"The time to strike will come. They are fighting and killing themselves. We need some more time to re-strategize and strengthen our attack. We cannot attack blindly. These are vampires and they are stronger than anything you can think of.”

"My source can mobilize vampires to be on our side. They said that the clans are more vulnerable because of the recent attack. We cannot go for the kill when they have been reinforced. We need to do it now. I've waited years for this."

"Which is why waiting a few more months should not be a bother," another masked face said.

The man was unable to tell their genders or nationalities from the conference calls they had been having for close to a year but he did not care. They had a similar motive and were willing to pay him millions for his services. That meant that he'd be doing what he wanted and still get paid for it. He almost laughed despite his frustration. Those immortal monsters would not believe what was coming for them.

He said, "Matthew Prana, one of our biggest threats has been killed by whoever. This plays well in our favor. Though we still have Davien Daeva to fear, I do not think that Matthew's daughter, Marie Prana who succeeded him is much of a threat to us. Getting rid of her might be the easiest thing we'd have to do."

"Good," the first voice said. "This reinforces my statement. If we're lucky, Davien Daeva would be killed too and it would be easier for us. There is no need to be in a rush."

The man stared at the people who were to be his partners and casually wondered who they were and why they wanted the vampire community wiped out. He had his reasons and they were solid but he needed to know theirs. He had asked them once and they had ignored him, asking him to concentrate on the task at hand.

Today, they were dressed in navy blue overalls which served to conceal their physiques. Their hair was covered in surgical caps that were similar to the ones used in hospitals. He had stared at those overalls and their environment for any signs of a marking that would give them away but whoever they were, they were smart and unwilling to take chances. There were no markings in sight and no part of their bodies visible.

He nodded at them. "Okay. I'll get more information and pass it on but you have to know that my patience is wearing very thin. There's only so much I can take."

"That is not a problem as we will strike soon. Remember, we need five vampires alive. Everything is useless if we cannot get those.
