When Emmett woke up the next morning to the alarm on his phone going off, he was surprised to find that Cash was already out of the bed and in the shower. He rubbed his eyes and yawned, sitting up, then waved his hand in front of his face when he realized just how bad his morning breath was. Oh God, I hope Cash didnât get a whiff of that.
A moment later he heard his phone buzzing and saw that it was a text from Harper. He knew something was wrong when, instead of excitement, he felt guilt and fear, but he didnât have time to deal with either of those emotions right now, so he buried them and opened the message.
Hey, baby, how are you? Didnât hear from you last night. You make the flight okay? Missing you already.
Shit. As if Emmett wasnât feeling guilty enough already, now heâd forgotten to even let his fiancée know heâd made it to DC safely, and she knew how much he hated to fly.
Sorry, babe, long day. The flight was okay. I have a coworker who helped distract me and make it bearable. Miss you too.
Her reply came quickly.
This coworker sounds pretty great. Iâll have to meet them some day. You didnât snore like a buzz saw and keep them up all night did you? :)
Emmett winced. Crap. Had he? He knew he snored, more so when he was especially tired, but Harper just shoved him. Then he would wake up, roll over, and go back to sleep, usually pretty quickly. But poor Cash wouldnât have known to do that and it would have kept him up all night. If heâd thought of it beforehand, he would have told him to wake him up. Damn it.
Before he could answer Harperâs text, the bathroom door opened and Cash walked out. Emmettâs jaw dropped at the sight of his former student in a long-sleeve black button-down shirt and underwear. The shirt was covering his rear end, thankfully, but not so thankfully exposing his incredible thighs. Emmett felt his neck heating up and his brain short-circuiting at the sight.
Damn, those thighs were perfection. Not that that was surprising, given what the rest of Cashâs body looked like, but Emmett hadnât expected to get the full picture.
âSorry,â Cash said, catching a glimpse of Emmett, who flushed and looked away. âI had pants in there but they got wet, so I have to find new ones.â
âNo, itâs, uh, itâs fine,â Emmett stammered.
They had to get out of there, see the city and spend the day with thirty other people, or Emmett was going to lose it and do something really, really stupid.
He hadnât realized just how exhausted Cash looked until he finally had the courage to look him in the face. The manâs eyes were bloodshot and his shoulders were slumped. He looked barely conscious. Emmett winced again.
âDid I snore last night?â he asked, grimacing.
Cash glanced at him as he slid on his jeans and fastened his belt.
