Ch 10

Skylar Roe

The tension on the ride home was so thick Skylar was sure she could've physically parted it with her hand. It wasn't any anger or malice on Kallie's part, just a heaviness of unsaid words.

She could tell Kallie wanted to talk, but for whatever reason, couldn't bring herself to speak. Skylar wasn't about to give her an easy out and start the conversation. Her chat with Luce earlier had her firmly seated in the right. If Kallie wanted to make it right, she'd have to take the initiative and do so.

They made it home in record time and still, neither one, had said anything. Skylar didn't understand why it was so hard for the woman to suck it up and fucking apologize or say her piece.

It wasn't until Kallie made dinner and sat across from her, that she finally spoke.

"I'm really sorry about last night, about how I treated you. There's no excuse for it. I really messed up, I’m so, so sorry," Kallie said as she looked Skylar in the eyes. "I just, I guess I didn't expect to feel like this. I thought I would be okay with it, with her playing with you, as long as there wasn't any sex. Then I saw how turned on you were and I lost it. I'm sorry."

Skylar still felt a flash of anger. She'd been expecting some sort of defensiveness a small fight even. She was still angry and wanted to hold onto it, but Kallie was so sincere and remorseful, she couldn't pick a fight with her.

Skylar took a deep breath and tried to calm down.

"I was turned on by the situation, by you, by the idea," Skylar said as she forced her eyes to meet Kallie's. She didn't think it was fair of Kallie to expect that she shouldn't have been wet.

"And I realize that now. And I am so sorry."

"I just need a little time," Skylar said.

"Of course."

Skylar used her fork to push the food around on her plate. She had only taken a few bites but she wasn't hungry. She just wanted a shower and to sleep off a shitty day. She sat at the table another few minutes before excusing herself and clearing her plate.

She disappeared down the hall and left Kallie alone at the table.
