If you can make a woman laugh, you can make her do anything.

After eating the fish tacos, I took our dishes and ran them back to the galley. I returned right before sunset with an open bottle of champagne, a dish of chocolate-covered strawberries, and a smile. Surprised, Liv got up to help me by grabbing the two champagne flutes. We set everything on the table, and I wrapped my arms around her while kissing her. âThis has been the best day I can remember in a long time.â
I brushed a strand of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear. âIt has been for me, too. I have something for you; have a seat.â
Looking curious, Liv sat down; I handed her a glass of bubbly and fed her a strawberry. She loved the combination and said how delicious it was. I sat beside her and handed her a long, skinny box; she looked at it in surprise as she opened it. In the box lay the most delicate silver necklace. âOh, Parker, Iâve never seen something so dainty and beautiful,â she said as she took it from the box and lightly held it in her hand. Looking up at me, her mouth hung slightly open; a single tear escaped and rolled down her cheek. I reached up to wipe the tear with my finger.
âParks, itâs beautiful. You shouldnât have.â
I cleared my throat; I was choked up that she was so humble. âThese last few days have been the best days of my life. I think Iâm falling in love with you. No, I donât think; I know I love you.â
At a loss for words, it was her turn to clear her throat. She handed me the box. I think she was afraid to speak just yet, and with her chin raised, without words, she asked if Iâd put the necklace on. As gently as possible, I undid the clasp, wrapped my arms around her neck to reach the back and clasped the necklace around her. She looked down at it as it hung right above her cleavage. The necklace sparkled against her golden skin. She traced it with her hand, then looked into my eyes and kissed me more passionately than Iâd ever been kissed. She unleashed the fire within us and told me she loved me, too.
Suddenly, she shot upright and looked around.
âWhat the hell was that?â There was a blast in the distance. She looked back up and saw fireworks going off. âHow beautiful! Look Parks, someone is letting off fireworks.â Before finishing, she turned to me and searched my face and eyes. I looked back with a smile. âI love you, baby.â
âWow, how did we get so lucky? I canât believe we get to watch fireworks.â I couldnât help but continue to smile when her head tilted, and a brow shot up, and she finally started to figure it out.
I laughed at her funny expression. âOkay, I confess. Thatâs all me; I took
