Chapter Thirteen

I don’t know what came over me last night, crying and asking Asher for a baby. When I woke up this morning all of yesterday’s events came trickling back to me. I have been so busy setting goals and destroying them that I have neglected everything else. I am proud of all I accomplished in my professional life but after it’s all said and done what do I have? My dad is married and happy, and I don’t have any brothers or sisters, so when I can no longer practice law, I’ll be all alone. Yes, it brought me the notoriety, and a very comfortable lifestyle, not just for myself but for my dad as well, but that can’t love me, or hold me. It’s weird that I hadn’t really thought about that until I held T and Angie’s baby, but it was like scales we pulled from my eyes the minute I had him in my arms. Once Asher coaxed what was wrong out of me, he told me we had a lot to talk about. I asked him if we could talk today because I was too worn out from all of today’s events and revelations, but I got a call earlier this morning from a friend of a client whose son has been arrested and asked for me to represent him. So instead of lying-in bed with Asher and talking about babies and perhaps practicing making them I’m going to be heading off to Summer Springs to get a kid out of jail.

I stretch like a languid cat in this huge ass bed, what size bed is this anyway. I mean, yeah, Asher is way above average size, but damn! And he is nowhere to be seen. I wonder where he…my thoughts get cut off when he walks in carrying a tray ladened with food. I sit up and push myself against the headboard, right before he sets the tray over my lap and climbs in next to me.

“Make sure you eat enough; I don’t want you sick. Are you staying in Hillwood today or is business taking you out of the city?” He asks me as he takes a bite of the bacon, he plucked off the plate.

“No, I’ll be in another city for a couple of days handling a case.”

“When are you coming back to me little one?”

“In a few days.” I say, mad now that I have to be away from him at all.

“When you get back, we’ll finish our conversation, this is too important to try to squeeze into a get ready with me session. And you fell asleep last night before we could get into it.”

“I was tired Asher. I am feeling bullied right now.”

He leans over and gives me a syrupy kiss on my lips. “I wouldn’t dare bully you. Hurry up and eat baby doll, you have a couple of busy days ahead of you.”

Just a little over an hour later I am being kissed goodbye if you could call what he is doing to me kissing.
