Excalibur chuckled after a few minutes. The soldiers were lost. All the corridors were the same, and while she recognized some of the rooms, she knew that the ship had shifted again.

She smiled. Maybe this craft was finally working with her. It certainly had taken a shine to Solomon.

But most of all she was pissed.

One of the soldiers swore.

“Maybe you should ask the ship nicely,” she suggested.

“Shut your mouth, prisoner.”

“Prisoner?” she echoed. “First it was Agent, then Ma’am, and now ‘prisoner’? You know, it is this blatant lack of respect that royally pisses me off.”

One of the soldiers shoved her into a wall. “Stop talking.”

“Make me.”

He raised his fist. Excalibur was quicker. She smacked her forehead into his face. His head whiplashed back. The other soldiers swung his rifle but the corridor was narrow and Excalibur was already moving. She shouldered the rifle away as it went off. Bullets bounced off, hitting the first soldier. He screamed.

The second soldier backed away, trying to get more distance. Excalibur hooked her foot to his. He tripped. She stopped his face.

A click of metal.

She ducked just as a bullet tore a gash in her head, and leapt. The first soldier tried following her with his gun when suddenly she was on his throat, knees first. The crunch was wet and sickening, and very fatal.

Excalibur fished a knife from his person and snapped her bonds. She equipped herself with a pistol and a rifle and took off.

“There!”

The other soldiers heard the commotion and came running.

Excalibur turned a corner and found a neat pocket within the walls where she could hide.

“Thank you, ship,” she murmured.

Soldiers streamed past her. One of them paused and looked at her.

“Hey,” she said, before opening fire.

Using the downed soldiers as a human shield she fired at the others as she backed away.

A room opened behind her. She tossed her dead human shield at them and dove inside. Her rifle clicked uselessly. She swung it at a soldier and sent him reeling. The action had cost her a bullet to the leg. It was a through and through on the outer side of her thigh. Non-lethal, just painful.

Excalibur wasn’t running anymore.

She took stock of the room.

It was a workshop of sorts with several pods on the side sealed shut. She was surrounded by tables and benches with various defunct machines. She slid under a table and flipped it. Bullets hammered it but it held.

Excalibur turned and fired.

Twelve bullets left.

More soldiers started surrounding her, coming from the side. She fired again and again, while diving for new cover.

Nine bullets left.

Five soldiers came at her. She ducked and killed two. Three left Andros among them. She snarled. At least she would get him.

A bullet hit her hand. She screamed and let go of the gun. The soldiers rushed her. They beat her and then held her, one on each arm.

Andros slapped her. He aimed his gun at her forehead.

“I’m thinking Solomon would be enough for the Vice President. He’s the main target after all,” he said.
