TIMMY

When we walked back to the hotel, I was practically floating. Not only was Jax a Daddy...or maybe a Daddy-in-training, he lived near me. Berkeley was just up the road. Almost. I mean, if I moved thirty minutes north and he moved thirty minutes south, we’d be in the same town.

And he could tuck me in every day. Maybe more. A lot more.

When we stepped into the elevator, I knew my time was running out. I had an early flight on Monday, and Jax would be leaving a few hours after me. So if I wanted any more time with him, I needed to think of something quick.

The door closed and I started to panic. My breathing picked up, and I sucked in a deep breath and blew it out quickly…then did it again and again.

“Hey, sweetheart.” Jax turned me so I was facing him and rubbed his thumb across my forehead until I opened my eyes. “What’s wrong? You’re hyperventilating.”

I held my breath and tried not to break down. “Just thinking.”

He pressed his lips to my forehead and held there for a moment. “Thinking about what?”

The doors opened and we were on our floor, just a few feet away from the worst goodbye of my life. “How I can get you to stay with me again tonight.”

Jax chuckled and wrapped his arms around me, walking me backward out of the elevator car. “All you have to do is ask, sunshine. I’d do just about anything for a repeat of last night.”

“Really?” I slipped my hand behind his back and turned so I was walking beside him. “You know, with Daddy Dan, it wasn’t sexual.”

“No?” Jax stopped in front of my room and waited for me to open it with my key. “Why not?”

I shrugged and went inside, immediately slipping off my shoes and reaching for my new favorite pajamas in the world—the sunshines. “He wasn’t into it, but I would have been.” I glanced at Jax and sat on the edge of the bed. “Is that weird?”

“Not at all.” He pulled me to my feet and kissed me. For real. After a moment, he nipped my lower lip and spoke against my jaw. “Whatever you need is what you need. Nothing weird about that. We all have needs.” He kissed along my jaw until his tongue was tracing the shell of my ear. “Even Daddies.”

I might have collapsed right there if he wasn’t holding me up. “Oh.”

“Would you like a bath before bedtime?”

Fuck yeah I would. “Yes, please.”

“Do you have any bubbles?”

I nodded and pulled my carry-on bag out of the closet. “I brought some just in case.”

“I’ll get it started for you.” Jax took the pouch of strawberry bubble bath from me and went into the bathroom. “Meet me in here when you’re ready.”

I was ready. So ready. But I wondered if maybe he needed a minute, so I took off my clothes and counted to fifty before I went inside the bathroom.

Jax was kneeling over the tub, holding his fingers under the faucet to test the temperature.
