4. Carefully fill your face mold with crumpled newspaper. Tape the rolled edge to hold it in place.
5. Make a paste from equal parts water and glue.
6. Cut or tear strips of newspaper and dip them into the glue mixture. Gently place wet strips over the face mold until its entire surface is covered. Let it dry overnight.
7. Repeat Step 6 two more times, for a thicker mask. Use twisted newspaper to add details like horns, ears, or a nose. When completely dry, remove the newspaper stuffing. Ask a grown up to help you cut eyeholes.
8. Add a final layer of paper strips, as in Step 6, if you want to make the mask surface smoother.
9. When it is dry, paint your mask. Then add an elastic strap, “hair,” “beard,” or other decorations.
