Intrusion or continual re-experiencing of the trauma (Criterion B),

Avoidance or numbing of thoughts, feelings, or external reminders of the trauma (Criterion C),

Negative alterations in cognitions and mood, including distorted beliefs, feelings, or blame, as well as diminished interest in previously valued activities, and feelings of disconnection from others (Criterion D), and

Alterations in arousal and reactivity, including hypervigilance, irritability, or self-destructive behavior (Criterion E).

The sixth criterion concerns duration of symptoms for one month or more (Criterion F);

The seventh assesses distress or loss of normal functioning (Criterion G); and,

The eighth criterion clarifies symptoms as not attributable to a substance or co-occurring medical condition (Criterion H).7
