CHAPTER 7

The Pirates Came to Church

The Boss (Juan Miguel Ramos) let the hostages call their families to let them know that they were going home. David called Pastor Higgins, their pastor to let them know that they were safe and on their way home. Their church family was already having a vigil for them.

They had been gathering three times a week and praying for their safe return. When Pastor Higgins told the members, they started shouting, crying and praising God. The Bryant and Johnson families were there and they were crying and jumping for joy.

David, Pamela, Thomas and Mildred arrived early the next morning. All the church members were there to meet them at the dock and a news crew also. When the two couples got off the boat, they were rushed by their families with hugs and kisses.

The news reporters were taking pictures and filming them. They asked if they could interview the couple but they asked if they could do it at another time.

Thomas said, “We just want to be with our families right now, please.”

David said, “Give us a phone number and we will call you in a day or two. We have had an experience and want to be with our families now. We thank you for coming.”

Pamela and Mildred were so glad to see their children. They were all crying and praising God. They thanked Him for keeping them safe and bringing them back. Brian and Marsha Fennegan were back and they were there too. Brian said his Dad was much better and back home. He thanked them for their prayers.

Marsha said, “We were very concerned for you all. We were asking God to please keep you safe.”

Pamela said, “Girl we had a scare. We had no idea if we were going to make it back or not.”

“It was a frightening experience but God is good. He protected us from all hurt, harm and danger,” Mildred said.

David said, “Pamela and Mildred kept singing and praying all the while we were captive and here we are. We serve an awesome God.”

“You bet we do. It pays to put God first in everything you do and stay in His word. It was scary at first but we had to keep our faith,” Thomas said.

All the people separated and went to their homes. This would be something that the whole town would never forget. The Johnsons and Bryants’ children decided that they would stay for that day with the couples.

On the next Sunday morning, everyone was gathering at church. Pamela and Mildred were the praise team leaders. They were getting in position to start praise and worship. Then the church door opened wide and all those men were standing in the doorway.

When the sunlight came in, everyone had turned around to see what was happening. It kind of scared the congregation. They were wondering, “What is going on?” They didn’t recognize these men. What do they want? Who are they? All the men were nicely dressed, shaved and looked good.
