One of the missiles hit the second ship, tearing a huge hole in the side of the ship but not doing enough damage to destroy it. He fired four more missiles at the second wave of ships. It wouldn’t be enough as they had limited missiles and far too many targets. Changing tactics, Brett focused laser fire on the damaged Unervan ship while he targeted the missiles at the other incoming ships. The missiles could change their target at the last minute, and he changed the target of two of the missiles from one ship to another at the last second.

It worked. The first two missiles missed, streaming away in the vastness of space while the second two destroyed a large, boxy ship. Brett moved one of the laser arrays to a third ship as the second scout ship exploded.
