Insertion of an Anterior Chamber Lens

Anterior chamber lenses (AC-IOL) insertion :

An AC-IOL is often inserted where the capsule is so disrupted that it cannot lend any support to a posterior chamber positioned implant. Once the phaco and I&A are completed and any other procedures – such as a vitrectomy and a peripheral opening in the iris (peripheral iridotomy: a PI) to prevent a blocking fluid movement in and out of the eye are completed) a simple piece of thin plastic – known as a Sheets Glide – measuring 12 × 6 mm will be placed across the anterior chamber into the angle and it will be used by the surgeon as a glide to place the AC-IOL.
