“I still can’t believe this is actually happening,” said Alexander as he slammed his fist down onto the table in front of him. “Why him, and not me?!”

“It’s already been explained to you. The virtual Gods chose these Emissaries for themselves at some point,” Sophia reminded him as she ran a soothing hand across his arm. “And we still don’t know how it’s all going to end. Who knows? Maybe he’ll die of a hemorrhage in a few weeks or something. You never know what these capsules might be doing to their brains.”

“Still, it’s bullshit. I could do so much if I had my game powers in real life.”

“Like what? All you have is combat skills anyway,” the young woman reminded her husband-to-be.

“But this is MAGIC!” Alexander was genuinely upset now. “Actual magic! I mean, think what enhanced regeneration alone could do! Let alone strength! I could lift this table with two fingers if I had my character’s strength!”

Almost unconsciously, he slipped his index and middle fingers under the edge of the table... And easily ripped it off the bolts holding it to the ground.

“What the hell?!” Alexander shouted as his eyes widened.

It took the couple a minute to convince themselves that the guy’s strength had actually increased, although he didn’t get any divine quests even after the change.

“Wow... I guess there’s still a lot we don’t know,” said Sophia. “But I DO know exactly who can answer our questions for us.”
