I Do with You?

Contacting the Person You Just Found

You will remember that we found a list of facilities people at Harley-Davidson in the Milwaukee area that consisted of 13 connections. Figure 11.1 shows the names of some of those people. Now you need to review the profile of each individual and make sure that person is someone you would actually like to meet. If you decide to proceed at this point using the good old-fashioned business techniques we have used for years, like picking up the phone, e-mailing, etc., at least you now know the name of the person and are not simply cold-calling Harley-Davidson and asking for the facilities person. But if you have no success with the traditional methods, you can pull up his LinkedIn profile and scroll down the right-hand side, where you’ll see who in your network knows that person (see Figure 11.2).
