Granted, there may be some people who end up annoyed. According to a study done by Sheryl Sandberg’s organization Lean In and McKinsey & Company, women who negotiate are more likely to be called bossy. But the bottom line is that if you come to an agreement, accept the job, and perform brilliantly, they’re not going to care. I sometimes found myself mildly irritated by people who negotiated a far bigger salary than I’d planned to offer. But that was soon forgotten when they delivered fabulous results.
