Magazine cover (or any heavy paper)

Ruler

Step 1: If you are using a flexible drinking straw, use the scissors to cut off the short flexible end. If you are using a regular drinking straw, you can use the entire straw.

Step 2: Use the scissors to split the entire length of the straw. Once the straw starts to split, you might be able to just slide the scissors down the straw to cut it.
