The Politics

Propaganda (A) and Balanced information (B)

Paternalism (A) and Person-centred care (B)

Obedience (A) and Critical thinking (B)

Protecting life (A) and Living a worthwhile life (B)

There are so many political questions to address, many of which are considered throughout this book.

Are different nations in competition to enact the toughest measures? Is it about the appearance of ‘strong leadership'? Why is there little dissent between political parties? Why are right-wing, individualist political parties rarely protesting the restrictions on people's liberty? Why are so few politicians arguing that a line should be drawn? Why is there so much passive acceptance of political authority among the general public? Where is the in-depth political debate?

How much has the internet had an influence, encouraging politicians to behave in similar ways, rather than analysing the evidence in a rounded, comprehensive manner? Is there just too much information for anyone to cope with, and is this to the detriment of informed political debate and policy-making?

Where is the sustained argument and analysis from politicians?
