29 How did Obama make enough money to buy an $8 million house, much less send Malia to Harvard and Sasha to a private high school? Presidents are paid $400,000 annually. He and Michelle have a $65 million book deal, outrageously priced speaking engagements, and a deal with Netflix. Now theyâre negotiating for a $15 million home in Marthaâs Vineyard. Barack is that a good investment? Wonât it be underwater within 12 years? Now that heâs an ex-President his hypocrisy has no bounds. Little people do as I say not as I do.
30 In America both annual automobile and gun deaths are less than annual opioid deaths. About half the ~38,000 annual gun deaths in America are suicide. There were over 15,500 (non-suicide) gun related deaths in America in 2017, of these only 403 were with rifles, meaning that over 38 times more people were killed by handguns than by rifles. Most of these handgun deaths are in democratically controlled major cities. In addition, 1,597 Americans were killed with knives and over 600 were beaten to death in 2017, while over 50,000 died from opioids. Why isnât there public discussion about banning knives and fists or reducing suicide and actually dealing with drug addiction. God forbid that we as a society should actually try to deal with these issues.
No, no, noâ¦, letâs do something thatâs far more fun. Even though no assault rifle (or pistol) has ever picked itself up or pulled its own trigger, letâs take assault rifles from citizens because doing so makes politicians feel important. But letâs just play at stopping opioid deaths and ignore suicides and handgun, knife and physical violence in our major cities, while we refuse to deal with the issues that cause them. Dealing with them is no fun and thereâre no political points to be scored.
Listen to me, listen to me, please listen to me, the problem isnât the gun, knife or fist. I say again the problem isnât the gun, knife or fist. Itâs the desperate, insane or evil person wielding them. Our society is creating these people in greater numbers than ever before. We as a society need to address how and why weâre creating drug addicts and these desperate, insane or evil people who pull the triggers, slash the knife or throw the punch. Both those who donât own guns and those who do, are at fault. I know the answer, but few want to hear about a God from a dusty old ancient book written by Jews over 2000 years ago.
Taking guns from law-abiding citizens wonât stop the carnage. If citizens are denied guns only criminals and the government will have them and citizens will no longer be able to protect themselves. A police state will only be a generation or two away. A police state is exactly what the 2nd Amendment was meant to prevent.
