Major shows together: Music Box Revue (1922 & 1924; Berlin); Strike Up the Band (1930, shown here; Gershwin); Walk a Little Faster (1932); Thumbs Up (1934). Clark continued on his own from Ziegfeld Follies of 1936, through Mexican Hayride (1944; Porter), to As the Girls Go (1948). 168. FRED(eric; born 1899) & ADELE (1898–1981) ASTAIRE (real surname Austerlitz). Brother-and-sister song-and-dance team; in vaudeville 1906-16; in N.Y. shows together 1917–31, including: The Passing Show of 1918; Lady, Be Good! (1924; Gershwin); Funny Face (1927; Gershwin); and The Band Wagon (1931; Schwartz; “I Love Louisa”). Then Adele retired; Fred did The Gay Divorce (1932; Porter; “Night and Day”) and entered films.
