Amara

I groaned, shifting slightly and feeling something soft underneath me. I peeled my eyes opened and blinked, trying to get my eyes to adjust to the light. I realized the reason why my eyes weren’t adjusting properly was because it was pitch black. I couldn’t remember where I was and all I knew was that I felt like I had been hit by a truck.

“Amara?”

Dean’s voice was soft and rough, causing shivers to run down my body. I moaned, hating and loving my response. I shifted again, feeling around and realizing I was lying on a bed. I inhaled deeply and pulled myself up, cringing at the pain that flowed through me. “Amara, you need to take it easy. You’ve been out for four hours.”

I turned in the direction of Dean’s voice, panic starting to rise. “Four hours! Why didn’t anyone wake me up?”

Dean snorted. “We tried. You were out.”

I swung my legs off the bed and stood up slowly, making sure I wasn’t about to keel over and face plant into the floor. I could hear Dean moving closer to me, ready to swoop in if I needed him. It made a warm feeling build low in my stomach and I had to actively squash those feelings down. That was not something I could deal with right now. We had way too much going on.

“Can we turn on a light or something?” I asked, putting my arms out and trying to feel for the wall. The light flipped on almost immediately. I blinked, dropping my arms and frowning at Dean, who was leaning against the doorframe.

“Alright…thanks.”

Dean nodded, staring intensely at me. The memory of the fight that had broken out between Luke and Dean before I passed out. I sucked in a sharp breath and stepped toward him. He raised an eyebrow. “How are you?” I asked.

“I should be the one asking you that.”

“Well, you were the one who got into a huge fight with an Alpha. Are you still injured? Can I do anything?” I asked, getting even closer to him, and scanning him up and down. I didn’t see any injuries immediately, but they could have been hidden.

Dean tilted his head, his stare becoming even more intense. I wanted to insist that he tell me exactly what happened, but I knew from experience that pushing a wolf wasn’t a good idea. “What do you remember, Amara?”

I shrugged. “I don’t remember much. You and Luke got into a fight after Sam slapped me. After that, everything is a blur and fuzzy. I don’t really know much else.”

“You healed both of us.”

“I’m sorry…what?”

“You healed Luke and I, with your weird magic. The same thing you did to heal Lily. After that, you passed out,” Dean explained. I sucked in a sharp breath. I closed my eyes and stumbled backward, dread filling me. I could hear Dean move forward, felt him grab my arms and keep me upright. He eased me backward and lowered me onto the bed. My breathing became shallow and I started hyperventilating.
