With a firm, yet caring, grip. I usher Grace into the club, but I wince as soon as I see the sight in front of me.

“What’s going on?”

Her body tenses up, her hand clamping down on mine signaling she’s looking for something safe to grab ahold of, and her feet freeze in place. There are at least half a dozen sweetbutts in the club, and they are all sitting on a member’s lap.

“Looks like some of the boys and their friends are blowing off steam.”

I don’t need to narrow my eyes at anyone. The men wisely don’t look at Grace and the women that do catch sight of her offer an honest, welcoming smile.

“Is this a sex club?” Grace asks.

“Not even close.” I see where she’s coming from though. One of the women has on a top that barely qualifies as fabric more like dental floss. And the top seems to be riding a little high, exposing her if she so much as twists her trunk, her chest pressed into Goose’s chest.

Another guest of ours is straddling Strider over in the corner, and his foot seems to be tapping out a rhythm faster than Sammy Davis, Jr. And his lady friend doesn’t seem to mind it at all, as she’s bouncing up and down on his thigh…in-between attempts to grind back and forth.

“It’s normally not like this. I’m not trying to make excuses or anything, but it looks like the boys have been having a party since I got out of the can.”

“Welcome home, again, jefe,” Axel calls out, and everyone cheers.

I motion to the prospect manning the bar and he instantly pops the top off an ice cold Coca-Cola and whips me up a lemonade with mineral water, salt along the rim of the glass. I’m not much of a drinker, preferring to keep my wits about me. When it’s desert level hot, nothing beats lemonade, something I never got to enjoy as a child.

I’m sure Axel has already spread the word, but I just want to drill the point home, especially after what Grace just revealed to me. I want her to know she’s got my vote of confidence always, and that extends to all members of the club.

“Listen up, everybody,” I begin, jumping up on a table to make myself bigger than I already am. “I see some faces I haven’t seen in a while, so thank you for coming out today to support my release. Means a lot. Also, I have a new lady in my life who means a whole hell of a lot to me. Everything in fact.” The room is absolutely quiet and completely still, like the surface of a pond at sunrise. “For those who don’t know yet, this is Grace. She’s mine. She’s under the protection of the club. She’s one of ours now, and always.”

Heads move up and down in agreement, and a couple of the girls get off the laps of their men and quickly run their hands over
