A Blinding Ascension

In 1997, I was in a prayer meeting with a group of intercessors in a small church in my hometown. The pastor laid hands on my eyes and said: “Lord, give her the eyes of an eagle, that she may see her enemies while they are yet afar off.”

As soon as he said that, I fell to the floor crying. My eyelids were sealed shut, and my eyes began to pound in their sockets. My pastor’s wife put her hands on my eyes which were pounding so hard that her hands began to bounce on top of them.

Since our prayer meeting was nearly at an end and it was getting late, I asked the pastor to dismiss the intercessors and to leave me alone in church. I knew the Lord was doing something unusual.

As soon as I heard the doors lock, I felt my spirit ascending into the heavens. I went flying upward through a brilliant blue-white tube chute. I came out lying face-down in the Sea of Glass with my arms spread outward. When I lifted up my head, I saw only the feet of the Master. I was so in awe that I put my head back down in the water.

I heard the voice of Jesus saying, “Look at Me.”

Trembling, I remembered the power of His presence when I first met Him in my bedroom. I was shaking and almost fearful to look upon His presence.

He said a second time (this time with a little more insistence), “I said, look at Me!”

Still I was apprehensive.

Then, He reached down, grabbed me under my arms, sat me up on my knees, put His hand under my chin and forced my face upwards with the third-time command: “Look at me!”

When I finally opened my eyes, His radiance was overwhelming.
