Aoiâs suggestion for their next destination was Arashiyama. They headed there in the van. The driver seat and passenger seat were occupied by two of the bodyguards, while Aoi and Azusa sat in the second row and Kiyotaka and Komatsu sat in the back. Ensho had separated from the group at Yasaka Koshin-do.
The cars in front of and behind the van were also part of the security detail. Kimishima was among them. All three vehicles were domestic to avoid drawing attention. It was like they were escorting a member of the royal family on an incognito trip.
âIsnât Arashiyama extremely famous?â Azusa frowned as she exited the car.
âYes, it is.â Aoi laughed. âThereâs a place thatâs been really popular with girls lately. Iâm sure youâll like it.â
âWhere is it?â
âThis way.â Aoi took Azusaâs hand and began to walk. Komatsu thought the sight was heartwarming, but Kiyotaka seemed unamused.
Aoi led them into Arashiyama Stationâs main entrance and out the other side. There, they found a path lined with six hundred cylindrical pillars of kimono fabrics, two meters in height and wrapped in clear acrylic. There were bright colors like pink, light blue, yellow, and orange, as well as modern styles like black and brown.
âWow!â Azusaâs eyes widened. âItâs beautiful!â
âIâm glad you like it,â said Aoi. âThis place is called Kimono Forest. The fabrics in the poles are all Kyoto dyed silks. Isnât it wonderful?â
âIt really is a forest of kimono. Itâs so pretty!â Azusa clapped her hands together and squealed with joy as she walked.
âAzusa, I think this type would look good on you,â Aoi said, pointing at a modern style in black, white, and red.
âI love it. I think this light pink kimono would suit you, Aoi.â
âYes, I like that kind of aesthetic.â
âI knew it!â Azusa clung to Aoiâs arm.
âKomatsu, donât you think sheâs sticking too closely to Aoi?â Kiyotaka asked.
âDonât girls do that with each other all the time?â
âKaori doesnât cling to Aoi like that.â
âWell, sheâs more of the stoic type. Wait, it even bothers you when a girl does it?â
âYes, everyone who isnât me gets judged the same way.â
âFigures.â Komatsu shrugged.
âHey!â Azusa shouted at them. âCan you take a picture of me and Aoi?â
âOf course,â said Kiyotaka, taking the camera from her.
âKiddo, youâd better not blur out just the ladyâs face,â Komatsu whispered.
Kiyotaka slumped his shoulders. âI would never.â He took the picture properly and returned Azusaâs phone.
âThanks,â Azusa said, checking her photo gallery. âGood, itâs normal. I was worried because of your horrible personality.â Apparently it wasnât only Komatsu who had been concerned.
âWhat do you take me for?â Kiyotaka muttered, annoyed.
Azusa brushed him off and gazed at the poles. âYou said these were Kyoto dyed silks, right? Iâm going to have a kimono made with this pattern right away.â She immediately sent an email with a photo attachment to an unknown recipient.
âHuh? Youâre commissioning a kimono right now?!â Komatsu blurted out, shocked. Aoi looked mildly surprised as well.
âIâve been wanting to wear a kimono to our events in Japan,â Azusa said.
