BY THE TIME we arrived in our room, my heart pounded so fast and so hard, I felt certain it would jump out of my chest. Weâd played at this sex game and had done so many naughty things over the phone, a big part of me was scared I wouldnât live up to our sexting sessions.
âNice room,â I said, trying my best to act cool and calm as I placed our dinner on the antique dresser and looked around. âJust lovely.â
A massive antique canopy bed, dressed in billows of white and steel gray, dominated the room. A deep-red sofa ran against a wall that had been covered in white beadboard on the bottom, and sky-blue walls encircled us. A big white club chair sat next to the sofa, and several colorful cloth ottomans were scattered around the seating area. A small gray round table and two chairs had been placed in front of the bank of windows, and an extra-large bouquet of fresh mixed flowers adorned the table. A whole host of New Yearâs Eve swag, including hats, crowns, a bag of golden confetti, horns, and of course, a bottle of frosty Prosecco with two wine glasses, sat at the ready on that small table. I didnât know if Gianno had arranged this, or the inn had provided it. Either way, the effort that had gone into this evening astounded me. No man had ever done anything like this for me. I didnât exactly know how to respond.
âIâm glad you like it.â Gianno had carried in his overnight bag and had placed it just inside the door. I didnât have one since I hadnât planned on spending the night with him when Iâd showed up for dinner. Still, Iâd stuffed a few things into my large tote bag, including extra panties, leggings, an oversized tee, and a few other essentials, just in case.
âI love it. Thank you for all of this,â I told him, trying my best to restrain myself. I didnât want to seem too eager or too desperate. After all, this was new to both of us, and we should probably take it slow.
I placed my tote on a chair, along with my coat. He shrugged out of his suitcoat to get more comfortable. Gazing over at him, against the backdrop of this beautiful room, sent me spinning. He stirred all sorts of emotions in me that I truly didnât understand. They were new to me, exciting and somewhat frightening. I could easily lose all control with him, and I didnât want to do that. I had plans, resolutions, ideas that didnât coincide with his future. I refused to allow myself to surrender my personal dreams for his.
My stomach quivered, and my hands shook. My nerves were getting the best of me, despite my best efforts to quell them.
Who the hell was I kidding? I never intended to go home tonight, but I hadnât wanted to admit that⦠even to myself. Now that I was here, in this room, I knew exactly what I wantedâhim.
