I tried so hard not to go straight to sex with her, but it was almost impossible. After holding back for so many years, being able to say things to her about how beautiful she was and let her know I thought she was amazing was really hard.

She scoffed. “It’s a little bit of brown on a brick wall.”

I shrugged. “Yeah, but I can see it. I think it’s good that you’re starting with Ms. Georgia. She’s the whole point, and everything revolves around her.”

She met my gaze with her own surprised one. “That was my thought, too.”

I grinned. “I do know you, Blake. A little better than I did a few weeks ago, but that doesn’t change the fact that I know who you are.”

She smiled and ducked her chin. Blake didn’t like talking about herself. She never had. She wasn’t the kind of person who bragged about what she did, even when she had every right to. I always wondered why, but after learning about her situation with her mom, I couldn’t help but think it was another thing Nadine had taken from her.

“Eat,” I said gently, nodding toward her food. She’d only taken one bite, and I knew she had to be starving.

“Maybe I’ll lose some weight working on this painting. Forgetting to eat and being on my feet and working all day might be good for the size of my ass,” she said with an eye roll.

I growled at her. “What did I tell you about saying things like that?”

She looked up at me, her mouth full and her eyes confused. She didn’t remember.

“That if you kept it up I was going to have to silence you. Your curves are hot, babe. You shouldn’t want to change anything.”

She shrugged and chewed slowly.

“You’re thinking about it, aren’t you, Blake?” I asked, dropping my voice so my words barely lingered between us. “About all the ways I can silence you. And all the ways I can make you scream again.”
