Fence-time

In November 2015, following the terrorist attacks in Paris,

Macedonia began clearing southern border areas in

anticipation of installing fencing to better control migrants.

Macedonia’s State Security Council stressed that a fence would

be a last resort, and the idea wasn’t to close the border “but to

restrict the flow of migrants, in line with the number of

migrants/refugees that would be accepted by those European

countries where they might be headed.”

In the future, however distant it might be, if Macedonia did

ever decide to fence themselves in, this “prep” work would

allow a 3-level fence to go up in less than 8 hours.

Nothing like being prepared.
