Reviewing the performance of Random Breakfast in Concert #7, where it was later performed, Johnston writes:
Mr. Gordon makes a dance on the spot by explaining to the audience what he might do if he were to make an interesting dance. Each explanation is accompanied by the appropriate illustration: an “exciting” entrance, a thematic movement, a symbolic movement, a religious movement, etc. Very funny parody of some old fashioned ideas and a final statement on any kind of dance making . . . Gordon and Setterfield are classic wits on the scene. Long live classic wits.37
