Transformed by Truth

Spiritual growth is the process of replacing lies with truth. The Spirit of God uses the Word of God to make us like the Son of God. To become like Jesus, we must fill our lives with his Word.

Jesus prayed, “Sanctify [my followers] by the truth; your word is truth.”

Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.

Jesus said, “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”

God’s Word is unlike any other word. Without God’s Word you would not even be alive.

The word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

You have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

In day-to-day living, abiding in God’s Word includes three activities.

1. Accepting the Bible’s authority.

Every word of God is flawless.

Everything in the Scriptures is God’s Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.

I believe everything that agrees with the Law and that is written in the Prophets.

2. Assimilating the Bible’s truth.

Receive it:

Jesus said, “There is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. Therefore consider carefully how you listen.”

LUKE 8:17–18 NIV

In a humble (gentle, modest) spirit, receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted in your hearts contains the power to save your souls.
