“Another shipment went missing?” I clenched the cell phone tightly, the plastic case creaking against the pressure. “Get Castor to find that truck and get it back.” Raging like a storm inside, I threw my cell at the wall. Third one I’d broken this year.

One million dollars down the fucking drain. Money we’d invested in the stolen shipment. We were low on stock, and the rest of our cash poured into other shipments. We wouldn’t be able to make that cash back for another two months. Enough time for the thief to have our product analyzed and replicated. Whoever stole our shipment wouldn’t be able to completely duplicate the product because we harvested extinct Egyptian plants grown in the Underworld and gardens outside Thoth’s library. But that didn’t mean an imitation couldn’t be chemically simulated. A cheap knock-off manufactured and slid into the market to compete with us.

Thunder rumbled outside in the dark grey clouds hugging the sky like exhaust fumes. The weather matched my goddamn mood. Not an uncommon occurrence when you were the avatar for Set. Wind and rain began to pound on the roof the moment I hung up on Alaric, responding to my magic. Armed with the elements, I could leave a trail of destruction in my wake and level the damn clubhouse in the blink of an eye.

Zethan pinched the bridge of his nose. “Fuck. Who called it in?” He leaned back further in his chair, his legs on my office coffee table.

“Alaric,” I growled, snatching up the pieces of my phone, tempted to crush them. This fucking device had been the bearer of bad news all fucking week.

Zethan gave me a look, the one that said, ‘don’t do it, man,’ and he used his power to resurrect my phone to its original glory.

The Egyptians knew his god, Osiris, as the God of the Underworld and Resurrection. Set, the jealous fuck, had chopped Osiris up into little pieces, scattering his parts across the world. Isis had located them, all but his cock, bringing him back to life with her magic. Don’t ask me why wasn’t get called the goddess of Resurrection when she did all the work. Ancient Egyptians didn’t make a lick of sense to me.

I grunted and stuffed the prick of a phone in my pocket. Second resurrection this year. The first I told Zethan not to worry about ‘cause it was time for an upgrade.

“Is Set running the show right now?” Zethan’s boots lifted off my coffee table and stomped on the ground. “Because this feels like something the god of Chaos would do. Stirring shit up, you know?”

The anger simmering inside me threatened to boil over, and that was never a good combination with Set. The god of Chaos wasn’t exactly known for linear thought. Rash decisions with a touch of mayhem were his specialty, and I didn’t want a repeat of this shitty week with paperwork to lodge insurance claims to rebuild the clubhouse if I burned it down.
