Cake flour (not cake mix and not self-rising flour) is more finely ground than all-purpose flour. One cup sifted cake flour equals 1 cup minus 2 tablespoons sifted all-purpose flour, so in the dough recipe you could substitute 2¼ cups minus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour if cake flour is unobtainable.

1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

⅔ cup sour cream

2 ounces (generous firmly packed ½ cup) shredded sweetened coconut
