Chapter Eleven:

Brandon sat in the backseat of the Maybach as it escorted him down a remote area of Miami. He knew he should be concentrating on the business matters at hand, but he couldn’t get his mind off Samiyah and the kiss that they had shared.

“What’s wrong, young buck?” Folk asked from beside him.

“Nothing pops, just ready to handle this business and get back to the streets.”

“I feel you on that man but let me ask you this. What’s been going on with you and Samiyah?

Brandon continued to look straight ahead as if he hadn’t heard the question that Folk had just presented to him.

“Oh, so you’re deaf now?”Folk asked; his eyebrow raising.

Brandon shook his head.

“There’s nothing going on with us, Pops.”

Folk observed him for a minute, knowing that something was on his mind, but also knowing that Brandon wasn’t the type to talk unless he felt like talking.

“I’m glad to hear it. I was beginning to think the two of you were gettin it in behind my back,” he continued chuckling. “But I know you wouldn’t pull no stunts like that. Am I right?”

“Yeah, you right, Pops.” Brandon responded, looking out the window signaling that his side of the conversation was now over.

They continued to ride in silence as they pulled up to the huge mansion. The land that surrounded it was beautifully sculpted. The grass was the brightest shade of green, and the bushes were cut into various designs.

Pulling up to the iron-gate, the driver talked into the intercom system before the gate was lifted to let them in. The driver pulled up to the curb in front of the house, letting Brandon and Folk out while he went to find more suitable parking. The pair walked up the few steps that led to a huge oak door. The door opened and they were greeted by Manuel.

“My friends! So glad that you could join us,” He moved aside to let them inside.

They followed behind him as he led them into a huge dining room where Luigi and Gavinchi already sat waiting. Formalities passed as the brothers quickly shook hands and made small talk with the two men before sitting down.

“Let’s get right to it,” Brandon said; ready to jump right to business.

“Have patience, young Brandon. First we must feast! It is custom that we break bread before we move on to discuss more important matters. With full bellies, our minds are fueled to make better suggestions and decisions.” He smiled then snapped his fingers.

Seven topless waitresses entered. Brandon looked on as they laid out plate after plate of the finest cuisines. The men began to make small talk as they ate. Brandon made himself a small plate, and quietly began to eat, not indulging in the conversation that was taking place around him.
