Search Engines Reveal Terrifying Truths
Predictably, when you search online for those words with Hillary Clintonâs name, the words with the highest hits are âcrazy,â âfeminist,â and âbitch.â
Then, I got curious. What would happen if I swapped out âHillary Clintonâ with âwoman CEOâ?
I had predicted âHillary Clinton bitchâ would have many more hits than âwoman CEO bitch.âI mean, these CEOâs were just badass women with opinions, overcoming the odds and successfully leading companies, right?
Nope. While Clinton got a ton of hits, women CEOs got way more.
This is not the most scientific study, as many search engines set algorithms to our preferences. That said, I had several friends try this and they all came up with the same order. Try it! Iâll put money on âcrazy,â âfeminist,â and âbitchâ always landing in the top three. (Try it with âwoman politicianâ as well. That will really blow your mind, especially if you combine the three words, such as âwoman politician crazy feminist.â) I wonât give it away. Go try it.
The message to women is clear. Whatever profession you go into, if you become too powerful, you are a crazy feminist bitch and should probably shut up.
Thankfully, women are catching on to why and how these words are used, and many of us are no longer having it.
Remember when Trump said, âsuch a nasty womanâ during a debate with Hillary Clinton? The hashtag #IAmANastyWomanBecause soon went viral. I myself have a mug on my kitchen counter that says, âNasty Women get stuff done.â So many of us now proudly proclaim we are Nasty Women.
Trump may have won the election, but he lost that word. Nasty is ours now. And now letâs claim those other words as well!
