Archer Mayor lives in a Vermont village, where he is town constable. He writes full-time and volunteers as a firefighter/EMT. He has lived all over the United States, Canada, and Europe, variously employed as a scholarly editor, a researcher for Time-Life Books, a political advance man, a theater photographer, a newspaper writer/editor, a lab technician for Paris-Match in France, and a medical illustrator. He introduced his Brattleboro-based cop Joe Gunther, hero of eleven novels to date, in 1988’s Open Season, after having written two scholarly history books.
