WHERE TO GROW

Bluebells are woodland plants, flowering just as the leaves appear on the trees. In the garden, they need moist soil and dappled shade. Spanish bluebells are more tolerant of sun and summer drought.

HOW TO GROW

Plant bulbs in early autumn, as soon as you get them. Never dig up wild plants. Group together in a partially shady corner, and they will start to multiply over time. Spanish bluebell is more vigorous and will soon spread.

GROWING TIP

Bluebells look great in their natural setting but can take over a small garden, especially Spanish bluebells. Remove seed pods before they split open, to keep under control.
