CHAPTER 34 : Wage the War!

A Soft female voice was coming from the knapsack. I knew at once that it was the skull. But, the ‘help me’ was always a male voice!

“Oh, no!” I said. “HELP! HELP! HELP!” The female voice was not soft anymore; the male voice was also clashing with it. It was getting louder and harsher. Then the male voice mingled with the female one again. “HELP! HELP!” They chorused.

I turned around and saw Marlin coming closer and closer. The skull stopped.

“Come on. Let’s follow Ares, get to the throne room. Find the hammer and get out of here,” I explained.

“Whatever you say,” Marlin said.

We made our way out of the cave and back into the Coliseum. The crowd was departing and I just saw Ares’ cape on the balcony. We ran back to the second blue room and through the corridor with stucco walls before reaching the interrogation room that Ares interrogated us in. The metal contraptions on the walls hung limply downwards.

We continued sprinting with the knapsack jingling on Marlin’s shoulders. Now we found ourselves into a humungous red room with tons of armor and various heads of dead animals hanging on the muted red walls. I lingered for a moment but continued as Marlin and Abhimanyu pushed past me.

“What’s the hurry…?” I asked.

“Yum, it’s been a long time since I have feasted on human meat. Oh, yes, and humans are not allowed up here because this is mount Olympus. Only for the gods. And that is exactly why I am going to hunt you down.” A soft, dark voice, downright unearthly whispering down my back.

I reluctantly turned around and gasped. It was the empty eyes guy who had pushed past Marlin before the fight. Marlin was trying to push open the massive oak-paneled double doors to lead out of Ares’s palace. The doors were like five of him on top of each other. I looked up at the guys’ cold, empty eyes.

“Wha… who, are you?” I asked.

“I am the embodiment of fear. Phobos,” he said flatly. “You may also call me, your death,” he added.

He withdrew a small dagger as I yelped and dived out of the way. Abhimanyu was frantically trying to open the knapsack. The dagger cut through the air, precisely through where I had been. He turned around and faced me as I saw Abhimanyu handing Marlin a super strength potion.

“Drink the whole thing for heaven’s sake!” I cried as Marlin uncorked the bottle and Phobos slashed at me again.

He got my toga, causing my sleeve to fall off, as well as leaving a small cut on my skin. Marlin downed all the purple contents and tossed the bottle down on the ground. The bottle shattered as Phobos turned his eyes on him.

Marlin ducked out of the way just in time as Phobos tossed the dagger at him. Marlin turned around and picked up the dagger before liquidizing it with his bare hands. Phobos’ expressionless face… continued to remain expressionless… but he did make a weird statement.
