Chapter Six

As Reece lay on the sofa later watching TV, nothing was holding his interest. He could see how this was going to go. Too much time on his hands for sure. He knew he should let Rissa know about his being shot but he didn’t want her to worry. It was just his arm, but he doubted she’d see it that way. The thought of telling her just didn’t sit well with him. He couldn’t explain it, but women get worked up over shit like this and they didn’t have the kind of relationship where she had the right to do that. Damn, that sure wouldn’t get him any brownie points if she knew he thought that way. But it was the truth. Their relationship was the sex only kind and that’s all it could ever be. The thought of being like his parents, and not be able to be with just one person for the rest of his life made it that way.

Aiming the remote at the TV, he hit the power button and watched as the screen faded to black. He placed the remote onto the coffee table, leaned his head back, and closed his eyes.
