Sugar Ray’s Celebrity Interviews

Celebrities loved stopping by In Living Color, and Davidson—who portrayed a pitch-perfect Sugar Ray Leonard6—took the time to “interview” them as part of a brief interlude while the “Million Dollar Giveaway” and the “Men on Football” sketches were being set up.

First up for an interview was Phil Buckman.7 “I’m having the time of my life, man,” he said into the microphone. “This is absolutely the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

Up next was a baby-faced Blair Underwood, who was thrilled that the Red-skins were winning. The ladies in the house, meanwhile, were thrilled to be in the same room as a baby-faced Blair Underwood. And who could blame them, really?

Then came Pauly Shore, the iconic stoner-dude of the 1990s, who clearly thought he was on the MTV set and couldn’t understand a word “Sugar Ray” was saying. “Excuse me, sir?” he asked in all earnestness when “Sugar Ray” asked him if there were enough “nugs” (chicken nuggets) for him.8 Shore also had a predilection for the Fly Girls, who had “plenty of moisture,” which is not exactly the visual one wants conjured up when discussing Super Bowl activities—or, at least, Super Bowl activities featuring Pauly Shore.

And finally came Corin “Corky” Nemec, a sometime “teen dream” heartthrob of the 1990s, who was having a great time—and politely asked if “Sugar Ray” was also having a good time as well.

And he was. He most definitely was.
