“Okay, spill it,” Joey ordered, good-naturedly, as the two of them sat at the end of a long pier, their legs dangling out over the water.

There were a handful of fishermen on the pier, but none of them were close enough to hear what was being said.

“So, I looked at Chelsea’s social media profiles,” Shelby began.

“That must’ve taken a while.” Joey rolled his eyes.

“Yeah, it’s crazy how active she is online.” Shelby nodded. “Anyway, I’ve seen some stuff on there that looks pretty suspicious,” she confided.

“Yeah, like what?” Joey asked, his dark eyes serious.

“Well, it seems like she wasn’t very nice to Edward while they were dating, but he just kept putting up with it. Why would he do that?”

“I don’t know.” Joey shrugged. “Maybe he liked all the online attention as much as she did. Maybe he even met other girls that way.”

“You think he was cheating on her?” Shelby’s eyes went wide.

“No, I think he just dug her and put up with her shenanigans because he wanted to be with her, but what do I know. I’m as far removed from the lifestyles of the rich and shameless as you can get.” He chuckled. “So, what…are you thinking that Chelsea is the one who killed Edward?” he whispered.

“I don’t know.” Shelby sighed. “But I think it’s possible, especially after what I read in Amber’s diary.”

“You what?” Joey’s eyebrows shot skyward.

“I know. I feel awful about having snooped in her personal things, but it was just lying there.” Shelby bit her lip.

“Wow. So, what did you read?”

“Well, for one thing, Chelsea and Edward fought all the time. About everything under the sun. And it wasn’t just mild disagreements, according to the diary. There were plenty of times that they had screaming matches where Edward stormed from the house, slamming the door,” Shelby explained.

“What did they fight about?” Joey asked.

“From what I could gather, Chelsea is a flirt, online and in person, particularly with anyone who could help her get more followers, and it made Edward jealous.”

“I mean, that’s kind of understandable on his part,” Joey commented.

“Yeah, I get that,” Shelby agreed.

“But, it doesn’t explain why you think Chelsea might have killed him,” he pointed out.

“Right. Edward would comment on her posts and try to interfere in her interactions with other guys, which, in her mind, probably seemed like he was trying to ruin her career.”

“I guess that makes sense.” He nodded.

“But then, today, on social media, Chelsea kept saying things like, she was ‘floored’ that the police hadn’t figured it out yet, and that the killer was ‘walking all over them.’”

“What does that even mean?” Joey was puzzled.

“Well, when I went to the party, we couldn’t walk through the kitchen very easily because the floor was being replaced, and then, when I went over there to see if Chelsea and Amber needed anything, this guy called the Flooring Ninja was there trying to get in to the house to retrieve his tools. So, I’m wondering if Chelsea thinks that the flooring guy did it?” Shelby mused.
