I look back on last night’s entry with deep remorse—this is supposed to be a recounting of my scientific trail, not a journal of emotions.

Still, I cannot erase it, for all is data and may be of some use in the future. I have found details important in a variety of ways. Still, my sheepishness persists. Rodan was a great drinker—very jolly and happy when imbued with wine. I, clearly, wallow in my own head far too much.

Despite a headache, the sun is bright today. The sky blue. It has been a long time since light appeared in Taiza, so I am going out with Ima to enjoy the brief respite. Afterward, a letter from Martorius awaits my response—he has found several more Watchers in the north, and they have been speaking with him. None of them know about a counter magic.

In writing him back, I will reinvigorate my body and continue to feel better. My course continues.

I shall not waver again.
