Chapter Fourteen
âLizzy finished talking with the gentlemen.
âDuring the interaction, Lizzy noticed Mr. Darcy was occupied with the local paper. She wondered what he was reading but she was too distracted with her work. She looked at one of the gentlemen, who yes, spoke Italian, as he said. âThank you, Miss Bennet. We are looking forward to our visit here.â
âShe was happy she was able to bless them as Lizzy responded. âYou are welcome, sir; I will check back with you in a while.â
âLizzy watched as the gentlemen nodded before he turned to his companions. They were all yes; of Italian background and Lizzy heard a few English words spoken here and there. But she was going to do what she knew was best: do her hostess job and help them the best way she could. She was thankful God blessed her to do this as she made her way over to Mr. Darcy. He was seated on the opposite of the restaurant and when she approached, she put on her fake smile as she greeted. âHello, good sir; what is it I may help with you today?â
âMr. Darcy, who was reading the paper, turned to her and he answered.
ââI wouldnât mind a cup of coffee, kind lady.â
âLizzy met his expression from behind the paper. Mr. Darcy was not playing a game with her, no. Lizzy could tell he was doing something else when he used his eyes to motion towards the front desk. When she noticed, she looked over and saw Mr. Raphael. He was standing as greeter and another one of the travelers, whom she hadnât seen, was talking with him in a low tone. Lizzy noticed this and with her fake smile, she responded. âA cup of coffee for the gentlemen here. Coming up.â
ââThank you, kind woman.â Mr. Otterâs responded before he resumed his reading.
âLizzy caught on to what Mr. Darcy was doing. She offered this in prayer before she turned and made her way over towards the area where the coffee was. As it was arriving early one had to greet the guests who came for their morning breakfast. Lizzy was thankful she blessed to do this but she also remembered she normally wasnât early opener.
âThe other women did this but Lizzy was thankful she was able to do this since early that morning. In other words she was happy she was able to work so she could keep other onlookers on what she was really doing there. As she approached, the door to the kitchen opened and one of the older ladies entered. She knew Lizzy when she looked her way as she expressed.
ââOut of town travelers?â
ââYes.â Lizzy answered.
âShe looked at the woman as she peered at the gentlemen seated at their table. Lizzy watched as the lady frowned as she counted. âThere are six of them. Are there any others?â
ââSeven.â Lizzy responded. She added. âI didnât notice the seventh one. He is with Mr. Raphael at the front.â
ââIndeed. I can see. Well it is a blessing he can speak Italian.
