‘“I made a Doughnut, yesterday,”’ Bridget read aloud, ‘“filled with Rhubarb, Apples, Grapes and Onions. Surprisingly, it was very Nice.”’

‘Onions,’ said Stacy, her nose wrinkling. ‘In a doughnut?’

Bridget shook her head.

The girls ran through the tables and leaped on to the bicycle.

Bridget hit the pedals, steering them down the Rue du Mont-Cenis.

The Parisian skyline opened before them, its shining buildings stretching all the way to the horizon.

Stacy held Bridget’s waist as they skidded towards a white, domed building.

‘What if we can’t work the riddle out?’

Bridget hopped from the bike.

‘Don’t worry,’ she said, hair billowing like a cape. ‘I already have!’
